Radawnica Folk High School is the oldest - continuously working Folk High School in Poland. The headquarters of the School is a historic palace, in Radawnica, from the second half of the 19th century, in neo-Gothic style, surrounded by a 9-acre (3.5 hectare) park. The facility is run by the Association of Polish Folk High Schools, a non-governmental organization. For several years now, the Folk High School has also been running a branch in Zlotow, a county town, where it organizes numerous handicraft workshops and conducts courses on active citizenship.
Radawnica Folk High School is a facility for formal and informal education and training. It also runs post-secondary schools, medical schools such as the Medical Occupational Therapy (Vocational School), the Kindergarten Teacher's Assistant, and the Youth Sociotherapy Center for problem kids. In addition, the Folk High School offers short-term courses that are very popular. Quite a few courses are taught by graduates of our School who have achieved success both nationally and internationally.
We organize a whole block of arts and crafts workshops for adults and young people which include:
- - Icon writing
- - Painting
- - Watercolor
- - Ceramics
- - Wickerwork
- - Crocheting and knitting
- - Macramé
- - Art in wood
- - Weaving
- - Stained glass
- - Felting
- - Tailoring
- - Yoga
The primary goals of these workshops are the lifelong development of people, their passions, as well as cultural education, passing on forgotten or unknown methods of artistic work to the participants of the classes, and an attempt to indicate appropriate ways of rest and organization of free time, as well as involvement in the social life of the small homeland.
Three times the Radawnica Folk High School has been a beneficiary of programs of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. Thanks to this, the local community - residents of Radawnica, Zlotow and other surrounding towns and villages had the opportunity to benefit from a wide range of workshops in handicrafts, ecology. They can participate in cultural events - exhibitions, presentations, vernissages or concerts and festivals.
